Kazahstan

Large country with small atention to it.

The country, which is among the ten largest states in terms of area, unexpectedly surprised at the very beginning of 2022.

Due to the increase in prices for gas motor fuel, from $0.11, which is ridiculous for most countries, to $0.21, thousands of residents of Kazakhstan took to the streets and started riots. There were so many protesters that Kazakh law enforcement forces were powerless to deal with them.

While Kazakhstan was blazing with riots, the reaction of the world's leading media to this is interesting. Bloomberg, for example, stubbornly ignored what was happening, highlighting last year's raid on the Capitol in Washimgton by Trump supporters. Although at that time in Kazakhstan there were already dead bodies on the streets, the collapse of the transport system and the disconnected Internet.

The protests, which was extremely unusual, did not have any leaders, not any sane political demands. Well, except for the resignation of the president, but this is still inaccurate. Most likely it was used as a cover to justify the riots. And they consisted in the pogrom of shops, the gutting of ATMs and other robberies.

It was even reported about the arrest of one well-known criminal gang, so to speak, the protesters forced the law enforcement officers to do their job.

Notes about what is happening in Kazakhstan began to appear, but still the news was not in the first place.

Not long before what was happening in Kazakhstan, the NYT posted a map of the location of Russian troops near the border with Ukraine.

For some time now, the Western media have been talking about the possible entry of Russian troops into Ukraine. (Which, in my purely personal opinion, is absolutely not necessary, regardless of what Putin is going to do in Ukraine or with it.)

And here, against the backdrop of unrest in the country, its president, who managed to escape from them, asks Putin to send troops to Kazakhstan to curb the protesters.

The reaction of the world media, that nothing unusual happen. The united western media write about invading the Russian forces in other country like common thing.

The situation with Ukraine looks like hysteria in the Western media.

Both countries the former USSR republics, even their territories on the maps looks similar. But how big difference in treatment by the western world both countries. Why? I guess the answer not for open public.
