Trump left the white house with a scandal. 4 years ago he promised to make America great again (now America is not great?). Now he left office with over 300 000 Americans died from covid-19. Over 30 millions infected. The biggest unemployment since big depression and a big uncertainty. Disorder and increasing stratification of American society and the Wall on the Mexican border.
Probably one of the most unpopular between his decisions was the intention to build a wall on the Mexican border.
The reality that the wall on the America Mexican Border is already exists. The author of this article saw it in national geographic magazine issue 1984 years. The wall on the picture was over 6 meter high and at the top bent to Mexico.
The number of illegal crossings of the border decreased more then two times from the J. W. Bush presidency. But the Trump promoted the building the wall as the main action, probably to make America great again.
So the scandal building the wall in the reality turned in a replacement the old parts of the wall with a new one, because the wall everywhere on the border is already exists. Yes by there is some places that don't have any fence, but they located in the very remote desert or mounting area.
The thing that the wall is not a really impassable barrier. Any barrier built by human can be destroy by human also. The thing that is if the man who illegally crossed the border will be catch by authorities or not.
The practice shows that the number of attempts of illegal crossings greatly depends on the probability to be catch on the another side.
The territory of the border mostly is desert. That means that to cross it by foot is very tough for anyone. Otherwise you need help from who is already on American territory, but this is criminal in most countries.
The thing is not in the wall, the thing is, if the border guard do their work properly, they catch everyone or 99%. because they are the specialists. And they already know, how to prevent the illegal crossings.
I can declare that with good organized work of border security service, America will need the wall only where the big cities located on the border. I guess that the people who patrolled the border very good understand this.
But the number of people that cross the border is big, because if you can get an illegal job on the other side with a high salary(one man from Ecuador who was in California told me that you can earn a 3000$ monthly salary for job). Of course there will be a lot of people who will try a lot of times to go illegaly in states. The one more thing it's an opportunity to be legal after several years and get social help being illigaly in the states.
Those benefits that the Soviet Union did not provide to illegal immigrants, making everyone who crossed the border illegally criminals. And even had the biggest border in the world served it properly and number of illegal crossing was extremely small.
The propaganda with building the wall targeted on potential immigrants, but the numbers show that there mind didn't changed.
The really good thing that America can do is to improve the situation in the illegal migrant source countries- Nicaragua,Honduras, Guatemala- it's possible. And the number of people who want to leave there country will decrease.
But if America dramatically decrease the number of illegal crossing of the border, what will do a big army of immigration lawyers, border patrols (imagine a cat that try to catch a mouse from hole but mouse will never come).
To make America great again impossible without real training the justice system on the real big problem, but how it possible to execute without illegal immigrants?
